The bible says to kill false prophets so why don't Jews & Christians do as the bible teaches them?

Because the theocracy established by God to which those commands were given no longer exists. The people that were told to kill false prophets are long dead and no one is living under the Covenant in which they were given. Christ established a New Covenant of grace and mercy after Zechariah was inspired to write those words.The bible says to kill false prophets so why don't Jews %26amp; Christians do as the bible teaches them?
For well over 1000 years, they did just that. In fact a few hundred years ago it was a capital offence in many places to advocate freedom of religion.





Then Christianity splintered. Each different faction went around killing members of the other factions and millions died. The 30 years war from 1618 to 1648 was the worst war since Roman times. Finally, all sides had to concede defeat and it was agreed that each ruler would decide the religion within his realm and leave the others alone. After that, many people worked hard to push the religious leaders out of office, so today the countries in Europe - and the former European colonies elsewhere - allow freedom of religion.





Islam is headed the same way. In practise, most Muslims do not seem inclined to murder those who drop the religion - eventually the governments who support such killings will fall and tolerance will prevail.
Because Jews and Christians follow the *rest* of the bible as well. The bible does not tell us: ';kill false prophets wherever you find them, willy-nilly, without following due process';. Quite the contrary, the bible tells us that executions may **only** be performed after a legal proceeding, and that the sentencing of a duly-appointed judge must **never** be ignored.





SO, unless a duly-appointed judge orders the execution of a false prophet, anyone who kills a false prophet is - according to the bible - a murderer.

You shall not live because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord. Well, we would have to consider you false, then all the unbelievers would have to die, for what you preach is a lie %26amp; the truth is not in you.


We are not living under the law now, but under His grace. Therefore, we can't take it upon ourselves to take another life.
The Old was physical, but the New is spiritual. The principle is to not give heed to what they say. Christ refers to them as blind leaders of the blind.

GOSH not everyone that comes after Jesus is a false prophet.HE warned against false teachers he didn't say ';EVERY single person who comes after me is a false prophet';...I hate it and you know what the prophet,messiah,and Mahdi Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (pbuh)(as) revealed that Jesus survived his crucifixtion went to Kashmir and died a natural death...After all he was Jesus

Society frowns on murder. Look around there are thousands of false prophets they can't tell the false from the real
because they prefer life outside of prison.
