Certain people say Catholic Church teaches a false Gospel.?

But if that is true, so do the Protestant churches. Being the Catholic Church compiled and gave the world the bible. Without the Catholic Church there would be no bible todayCertain people say Catholic Church teaches a false Gospel.?
Well if you didn't get the Bible from the Catholic Church where did it come from. All the bigoted untruthful answers cant change facts as Chris

would like to believe. I guess that the people who believe the Catholic Church didn't give them the bible believe that it floated down from heaven to the hands of king James. Total bigoted fools.

As you probably know, Catholic Bibles have 73 books, 46 in the Old Testament, and 27 in the New Testament. Protestant Bibles have 66 books with only 39 in the Old Testament. The books missing from Protestant Bibles are: Tobit, Judith, Baruch, Wisdom, Sirach, 1 and 2 Maccabees, and parts of Esther and Daniel. They are called the 'Deuterocanonicals' by Catholics and 'Apocrypha' by Protestants. Martin Luther, without any authority whatsoever, removed those seven books and placed them in an appendix during the reformation. They remained in the appendix of Protestant Bibles until about 1826, and then they were removed altogether.

Please be mindful of the fact that those seven books had been in Bibles used by all Christians from the very foundation of Christianity.

Hellenistic Greek was the language of the day during the time of Christ. This was due to the fact that Alexander the Great had conquered the region several hundred years before. The Hebrew language was on its way out, and there was a critical need for a translation of the Hebrew Old Testament for dispersed Greek speaking Jews. This translation, called the Septuagint, or LXX, was completed by Jewish scholars in about 148 B.C. and it had all of the books, including the seven removed by Martin Luther over 1650 years later. The New Testament has about 350 references to Old Testament verses. By careful examination, scholars have determined that 300 of these are from the Septuagint and the rest are from the Hebrew Old Testament*. They have shown that Jesus Christ Himself, quoted from the Septuagint. Early Christians used the Septuagint to support Christian teachings.

For the first 300 years of Christianity, there was no Bible as we know it today. Christians had the Old Testament Septuagint, and literally hundreds of other books from which to choose. The Catholic Church realized early on that she had to decide which of these books were inspired and which ones weren't. The debates raged between theologians, Bishops, and Church Fathers, for several centuries as to which books were inspired and which ones weren't. In the meantime, several Church Councils or Synods, were convened to deal with the matter, notably, Rome in 382, Hippo in 393, and Carthage in 397 and 419. The debates sometimes became bitter on both sides. One of the most famous was between St. Jerome, who felt the seven books were not canonical, and St. Augustine who said they were. Protestants who write about this will invariably mention St. Jerome and his opposition, and conveniently omit the support of St. Augustine. I must point out here that Church Father's writings are not infallible statements, and their arguments are merely reflections of their own private opinions. When some say St. Jerome was against the inclusion of the seven books, they are merely showing his personal opinion of them. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. However, A PERSONS PRIVATE OPINION DOES NOT CHANGE THE TRUTH AT ALL. There are always three sides to every story, this side, that side, and the side of truth. Whether Jerome's position, or Augustine's position was the correct position, had to be settled by a third party, and that third party was the Catholic Church.

Now the story had a dramatic change, as the Pope stepped in to settle the matter. In concurrence with the opinion of St. Augustine, and being prompted by the Holy Spirit, Pope St. Damasus I, at the Council of Rome in 382, issued a decree appropriately called, ';The Decree of Damasus';, in which he listed the canonical books of both the Old and New Testaments. He then asked St. Jerome to use this canon and to write a new Bible translation which included an Old Testament of 46 books, which were all in the Septuagint, and a New Testament of 27 books.

ROME HAD SPOKEN, THE ISSUE WAS SETTLED.

';THE CHURCH RECOGNIZED ITS IMAGE IN THE INSPIRED BOOKS OF THE BIBLE. THAT IS HOW IT DETERMINED THE CANON OF SCRIPTURE.

St. Jerome acquiesced under obedience (Hebrews 13:17) and began the translation, and completed it in 404 A.D.. In 405, his new Latin Vulgate* was published for the first time.

*The word ';vulgate'; means, ';The common language of the people, or the vernacular';.

The Decree of Pope St. Damasus I, Council of Rome. 382 A.D....

ST. DAMASUS 1, POPE, THE DECREE OF DAMASUS:

It is likewise decreed: Now, indeed, we must treat of the divine Scriptures: what the universal Catholic Church accepts and what she must shun.

The list of the Old Testament begins: Genesis, one book; Exodus, one book: Leviticus, one book; Numbers, one book; Deuteronomy, one book; Jesus Nave, one book; of Judges, one book; Ruth, one book; of Kings, four books; Paralipomenon, two books; One Hundred and Fifty Psalms, one book; of Solomon, three books: Proverbs, one book; Ecclesiastes, one book; Canticle of Canticles, one book; likewise, Wisdom, one book; Ecclesiasticus (Sirach), one book; Likewise, the list of the Prophets: Isaiah, one book; Jeremias, one book; along with Cinoth, that is, his Lamentations; Ezechiel, one book; Daniel, one book; Osee, one book; Amos, one book; Micheas, one book; Joel, one book; Abdias, one book; Jonas, one book; Nahum, one book; Habacuc, one book; Sophonias, one book; Aggeus, one book; Zacharias, one book; Malachias, one book. Likewise, the list of histories: Job, one book; Tobias, one book; Esdras, two books; Esther, one book; Judith, one book; of Maccabees, two books.

Likewise, the list of the Scriptures of the New and Eternal Testament, which the holy and Catholic Church receives: of the Gospels, one book according to Matthew, one book according to Mark, one book according to Luke, one book according to John. The Epistles of the Apostle Paul, fourteen in number: one to the Romans, two to the Corinthians, one to the Ephesians, two to the Thessalonians, one to the Galatians, one to the Philippians, one to the Colossians, two to Timothy, one to Titus one to Philemon, one to the Hebrews. Likewise, one book of the Apocalypse of John. And the Acts of the Apostles, one book. Likewise, the canonical Epistles, seven in number: of the Apostle Peter, two Epistles; of the Apostle James, one Epistle; of the Apostle John, one Epistle; of the other John, a Presbyter, two Epistles; of the Apostle Jude the Zealot, one Epistle. Thus concludes the canon of the New Testament.

Likewise it is decreed: After the announcement of all of these prophetic and evangelic or as well as apostolic writings which we have listed above as Scriptures, on which, by the grace of God, the Catholic Church is founded, we have considered that it ought to be announced that although all the Catholic Churches spread abroad through the world comprise but one bridal chamber of Christ, nevertheless, the holy Roman Church has been placed at the forefront not by the conciliar decisions of other Churches, but has received the primacy by the evangelic voice of our Lord and Savior, who says: ';You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it; and I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you shall have bound on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you shall have loosed on earth shall be loosed in heaven.';

his list of 46 Old Testament and 27 New Testament books was reconfirmed in the Council of Carthage in 397 A.D.. St. Jerome's translation, ';The Latin Vulgate';*, is to this day, the official Bible of the Catholic Church. The Bibles which Catholics use today, have the same 46 books in the Old Testament as they have had since before the beginning of Christianity.

I have not seen a Protestant writing giving recognition to Pope St. Damasus I, or of even the barest mention of his decree, or of the Council of Rome. This is more than half of the truth which is ';conveniently'; left out of Protestant arguments.

The Council of Hippo in 393 reaffirmed the canon put forth by Pope Damasus I...

AD 393:

Council of Hippo. ';It has been decided that besides the canonical Scriptures nothing be read in church under the name of divine Scripture.

But the canonical Scriptures are as follows: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua the Son of Nun, Judges, Ruth, the Kings, four books, the Chronicles, two books, Job, the Psalter, the five books of Solomon (included Wisdom and Ecclesiastes (Sirach)), the twelve books of the Prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Tobit, Judith, Esther, Ezra, two books, Maccabees, two books.';

(canon 36 A.D. 393). At about this time St. Jerome started using the Hebrew text as a source for his translation of the Old Testament into the Latin Vulgate.

The Third Council of Carthage reaffirmed anew, the Canon put forth by Pope Damasus I...

AD 397:

Council of Carthage III. ';It has been decided that nothing except the canonical Scriptures should be read in the Church under the name of the divine Scriptures. But the canonical Scriptures are: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, four books of Kings, Paralipomenon, two books, Job, the Psalter of David, five books of Solomon (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Wisdom, Sirach), twelve books of the Prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Tobit, Judith, Esther, two books of Esdras, two books of the Maccabees.';

(canon 47 A.D. 397).

It is to be noted that the book of Baruch was considered by some Church Fathers to be a part of the book of Jeremiah and as such was not listed separately by them.

The Fourth Council of Carthage in 419 again reaffirmed the Canons as defined in previous councils...

CANON XXIV. (Greek xxvii.)

';That nothing be read in church besides the Canonical Scripture.

ITEM, that besides the Canonical Scriptures nothing be read in church under the name of divine Scripture. But the Canonical Scriptures are as follows: Genesis Exodus Leviticus Numbers Deuteronomy Joshua the Son of Nun The Judges Ruth * The Kings (4 books) * The Chronicles (2 books) Job The Psalter * The Five books of Solomon (includes Wisdom and Sirach) The Twelve Books of the Prophets Isaiah Jeremiah Ezechiel Daniel Tobit Judith Esther * Ezra (2 books) * Maccabees (2books).

The New Testament: * The Gospels (4 books) * The Acts of the Apostles (1 book) * The Epistles of Paul (14) * The Epistles of Peter, the Apostle (2) * The Epistles of John the Apostle (3) * The Epistles of James the Apostle (1) * The Epistle of Jude the Apostle (1) * The Revelation of John (1 book).

Let this be sent to our brother and fellow bishop, [Pope] Boniface, and to the other bishops of those parts, that they may confirm this canon, for these are the things which we have received from our fathers to be read in church.';

[This is Canon xxxvj. of Hippo., 393. The last phrase allowing the reading of the ';passions of the Martyrs'; on their Anniversaries is omitted from the African code.]

The Council of Florence, also called Basel, 1431-1445, was yet another Council which confirmed the Canons of both testaments of the Bible...

SESSION 11 4 February 1442:

';We, therefore, to whom the Lord gave the task of feeding Christ's sheep', had abbot Andrew carefully examined by some outstanding men of this sacred council on the articles of the faith, the sacraments of the church and certain other matters pertaining to salvation. At length, after an exposition of the catholic faith to the abbot, as far as this seemed to be necessary, and his humble acceptance of it, we have delivered in the name of the Lord in this solemn session, with the approval of this sacred ecumenical council of Florence, the following true and necessary doctrine. Most firmly it believes, professes and preaches that the one true God, Father, Son and holy Spirit, is the creator of all things that are, visible and invisible, who, when he willed it, made from his own goodness all creatures, both spiritual and corporeal, good indeed because they are made by the supreme good, but mutable because they are made from nothing, and it asserts that there is no nature of evil because every nature, in so far as it is a nature, is good. It professes that one and the same God is the author of the old and the new Testament -- that is, the law and the prophets, and the gospel -- since the saints of both testaments spoke under the inspiration of the same Spirit.

It accepts and venerates their books, whose titles are as follows. Five books of Moses, namely Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy; Joshua, Judges, Ruth, four books of Kings, two of Paralipomenon, Esdras, Nehemiah, Tobit, Judith, Esther, Job, Psalms of David, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Baruch, Ezechiel, Daniel; the twelve minor prophets, namely Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi; two books of the Maccabees; the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; fourteen letters of Paul, to the Romans, two to the Corinthians, to the Galatians, to the Ephesians, to the Philippians, two to the Thessalonians, to the Colossians, two to Timothy, to Titus, to Philemon, to the Hebrews; two letters of Peter, three of John, one of James, one of Jude; Acts of the Apostles; Apocalypse of John.';

The Council of Florence was held over 100 years before the Council of Trent, and about 80 years before the start of the reformation.

The Council of Trent 1546-1565, the longest lasting Council in Church history.

AD 1546:

The Catholic Council of Trent, called to counter changes made by Martin Luther, again reaffirmed the canonicity of all 46 books of the Old Testament. Some Protestant reformers who attended, tried to get the Church to accept the list of books which the Jewish rabbis had chosen at Jamnia.

The Church refused and upheld her teaching from Pope Damasus I, and the Council of Florence. As a result, Protestants have the same New Testament books as Catholics, but their Old Testament differs because it does not contain the books rejected by the rabbis at Jamnia, and much later, rejected by Martin Luther.

It is interesting that for 1500 years all Christians accepted the same canon for the Old Testament. Only in the last 480 years, since the reformation, has there been disagreement from ProtestantsCertain people say Catholic Church teaches a false Gospel.?
This is the perfect example of believing only what you want to.You have neglected the truth for a lie.

Yeah, it`s the age old unfounded argument of those who know only what they have been schooled to know and who never really examine church history for the real facts,in-case it overturns their world.
Exactly---No Catholic Church=No New Testament=no Christianity.
What is today the Greek Orthodox church compiled the ';bible';. the Roman Catholic church 500 years later compiled the bible that you are probably reading today.
LOL...ahhh, Chris! I am so pleased that you remembered me!

Apparently I made quite the impression on you!

If Protestants who reject the Catholic Church were truthful, then they would not accept the Bible. Period.
Gospel means ';Good News'; and the gospel was preached by the apostles and their duly ordained successors, solely through Catholic oral Tradition, for many, many years.

The Catholic Church, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, later decided to reduce some of its' sacred Tradition to writing, and the new testament of the bible is the result.

The bible was written by Catholics and for Catholics. It reflects only authentic Catholic sacred Tradition, and anyone who attempts to interpret it in any other way is either a fool or an apostate/heretic.

There's no doubt that many discerning Christians can indeed recognize the truth, and the name of their fundamentalist, evangelical, non-denominational, universal, charismatic, full gospel church is

C A T H O L I C.
The Church began on the day of Pentecost (about 2000 yrs ago) and stands today under Pope Benedict.I wonder if some people here sleep well at night.
This video on the youtube makes you think

Peace be on you
As a Christian Preacher there are certain things about Catholicism I question.

Praying to Mary, she wasn't elevated to the position she holds until around 1850.

Calling the Priest father, in direct violation of the teachings of Christ, thou shall call no man Father, but your Father which is in heaven. Naturally we know this means spiritual father.

Saying prayers for those that have passed on.

Bottom line, if you are dead and didn't accept Christ all the prayers in the world aren't going to help you.

There are other differences but I think you will get the idea.
your right, there is more to it then what we see!
LOL I am still trying to figure out what the ';false Gospel'; we teach is and if we are not Christians what are we?

Pax et Bonum,

Debra
the catholic church didn't give us the bible, it's the word of god, passed down to chosen people that he wanted to put it in writing.
The discussion is that most denominations, not just the catholics and the protestants, miss out vital aspects of the Bible's teachings.

There are no denominations, there is only the Church of Christ. Any denomination implies in its nature that only certain parts of the Bible are taught or believed.
You are right: If the Catholic Church teaches a false gospel, then the Bible, which explains the teachings of the Catholic Church, a work written by Catholics, read by Catholics, selected by Catholics, and canonized by Catholics, is also a false gospel.

But of course, the Catholic Church never intended Christianity to be a religion of the book, like Judaism, Islam, and Protestantism. A religion of the book is a plastic religion that can be remolded to please the hard-hearted believer.

For example, Chris finds verses he thinks says that you can commit any sin you please after being saved and still go to heaven. If ever a reading came straight from hell, that is it.

In his infinite wisdom, Jesus Christ entrusted his teachings not to a book, but to the Church, the living community of faithful disciples with personal knowledge of the Word.

Cheers,

Bruce
Dear friend please reconsider.William Tyndale was a theologian and scholar who translated the Bible into an early form of Modern English. He was the first person to take advantage of Gutenberg’s movable-type press for the purpose of printing the scriptures in the English language. Besides translating the Bible, Tyndale also held and published views which were considered heretical, first by the Catholic Church, and later by the Church of England which was established by Henry VIII. His Bible translation also included notes and commentary promoting these views. Tyndale's translation was banned by the authorities, and Tyndale himself was burned at the stake in 1536, at the instigation of agents of Henry VIII and the Anglican Church.

THE FACT IS%26lt; IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR THE CATHOLIC CHURCH WE COULD HAVE HAD THE BIBLE WAY SOONER THAN WE DID%26gt; you probably don't like that but its the truth...................................… IS SO MORE TRUTH!

The Betrayal and Death of William Tyndale

Tyndale was betrayed by a friend, Philips, the agent either of Henry or of English ecclesiastics, or possibly of both. Tyndale was arrested and imprisoned in the castle of Vilvoorden for over 500 days of horrible conditions. He was tried for heresy and treason in a ridiculously unfair trial, and convicted. Tyndale was then strangled and burnt at the stake in the prison yard, Oct. 6, 1536. His last words were, ';Lord, open the king of England's eyes.'; This prayer was answered three years later, in the publication of King Henry VIII’s 1539 English “Great Bible”.

Tyndale's place in history has not yet been sufficiently recognized as a translator of the Scriptures, as an apostle of liberty, and as a chief promoter of the Reformation in England. In all these respects his influence has been singularly under-valued. The sweeping statement found in almost all histories, that Tyndale translated from the Vulgate and Luther, is most damaging to the reputation of the writers who make it; for, as a matter of fact, it is contrary to truth, since his translations are made directly from the originals, with the aid of the Erasmus 1516 Greek-Latin New Testament, and the best available Hebrew texts. The Prolegomena in Mombert's William Tyndale's Five Books of Moses show conclusively that Tyndale's Pentateuch is a translation of the Hebrew original.

LETTER WRITTEN WHILE AWAITING HIS EXECUTION.

Tyndale wrote the following letter in 1535 from his cell in the Vilvorde Prison, presumably to the Governor of Vilvorde, the Marquis of Bergen-op-Zoom.

I believe, most excellent Sir, that you are not unacquainted with the decision reached concerning me. On which account, I beseech your lordship, even by the Lord Jesus, that if I am to pass the winter here, to urge upon the lord commissary, if he will deign, to send me from my goods in his keeping a warmer cap, for I suffer greatly from cold in the head, being troubled with a continual catarrh, which is aggravated in this prison vault. A warmer coat also, for that which I have is very thin. Also cloth for repairing my leggings. My overcoat is worn out; the shirts also are worn out. He has a woolen shirt of mine, if he will please send it. I have also with him leggings of heavier cloth for overwear. He likewise has warmer nightcaps: I also ask for leave to use a lamp in the evening, for it is tiresome to sit alone in the dark.

But above all, I beg and entreat your clemency earnestly to intercede with the lord commissary, that he would deign to allow me the use of my Hebrew Bible, Hebrew Grammar, and Hebrew Lexicon, and that I might employ my time with that study. Thus likewise may you obtain what you most desire, saving that it further the salvation of your soul. But if, before the end of winter, a different decision be reached concerning me, I shall be patient, and submit to the will of God to the glory of the grace of Jesus Christ my Lord, whose spirit may ever direct your heart. Amen.

W. Tyndale
I think your question should have been ';why are there people like Chris who are so stupid?';
Right on. Even non-Christian historians will admit that the bible came from the Catholic church (much to Chris' aggravation).
I'm so glad you ask these questions........just for Chris ????

It shows his ignorance and stupidity.

Keep asking !

Maybe Chris needs to read the Torah, it is the foundation stone of respective faiths.

When the author of 2 Timothy 3:16 says, ';All scripture is inpired by God and is useful for teaching';, the writer was referring to the Hebrew scriptures.
You will not agree with me, but God has used evil men to bring about His purposes; Pharaoh for example. When Jesus said, ';Heaven and earth shall pass away: BUT MY WORDS SHALL NOT PASS AWAY'; (Mark 13:31), it was determined that His words would never pass away, and He also determined the means by which this would happen. To give the glory to the Catholic Church for this devine act is not wise. The glory belongs to God ALONE.

John 7:18, Jesus said, ';He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him';. You were speaking of self, Catholic Church, and giving the glory to those men, and Jesus plainly said, this way is not true. Give the glory to God, because it belongs to Him.

The RCs claim to be built upon Peter, a man, but 1st Corinthians 3:11,says, ';For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST';. They are built upon dead men's bones. 1st Cor 10:2-4, ';...for they drank of that spiritual ROCK that followed them::: AND THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST';. Rev 15:2-3, says those who have gotten the victory over the beast sing the song of Moses which is begins in the last verse of Deuteronomy 31, and continues throughout the 32nd chapter; 32:31, ';For their rock is not as our ROCK, even our enemies themselves being judges';. They agree with us, their rock is Peter, not Christ.

They exalt Mary, but Luke 11:27-28, ';... a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. BUT HE SAID, Yea, RATHER, blessed are they that HEAR the word of God, and keep it';.

They say that God is a trinity which cannot be understood, but Romans 1:20, ';For the INVISIBLE things of him from the creation of the world ARE CLEARLY SEEN, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without EXCUSE';. What did God make in his image, after his likeness? Man; Genesis' 1:26, image and likeness have two DIFFERENT meanings, according to Strong's Hebrew Dictionary; image means phantom or illusion, but likeness means shape or model. Man was created body and spirit, just like the Godhead; Jesus is the temple body for the fulness of God the Spirit. Zech 12:1, ';...the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, AND FORMETH THE SPIRIT OF MAN WITHIN HIM';. This gives the order inwhich God created things.

John 4:24, Jesus said, ';God is a Spirit';.

Colossians 1:15, speaking of Jesus, ';Who is the image of the INVISIBLE God';. Romans 1:20, says we can clearly see the INVISIBLE things of him.

Colossians 2:9, speaking of Christ, ';For IN HIM dwelleth ALL the fulness of the Godhead bodily';. 2nd Corinthians 5:19, ';...God was IN CHRIST, reconciling the world unto himself';. 2nd Corinthians 4:16, ';...though our OUTWARD man perish, yet the INWARD man is renewed day by day';.

This is why Jesus said, My God, my God why have you forsaken me, while he was dying; the Spirit of God had to leave Jesus' body inorder for him to die.

They ask a priest for forgiveness, but 1st John 2:1, ';...if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous';; 1st Tim 2:5, ';For there is ONE God, and ONE mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus';; Luke 12:3, Jesus said, ';...that which ye have spoken IN THE EAR IN CLOSETS shall be proclaimed upon lthe house tops';; sins spoken in the ear of priests in a confessional closet.

They call their priest ';father';, but Matt 23:9, Jesus said, ';And call NO MAN father upon the earth: for ONE is your Father, which is in heaven';.
where do you get your information. The catholics killed people for even owning the bible and believeing in Jesus. Look up Nero. We have the bible because of people like Tyndale gave his life for it.
';But if that is true, so do the Protestant churches. Being the Catholic Church compiled and gave the world the bible. ';

All bow and worship the lord god our pope! Lord of all and giver of the Bible and all of Christianity. Silly me, I thought God gave us the Bible.

Statements like the one you made are the exact reason people say the Catholic Church teaches a false gospel. My God was humble, not pompous.
Whose the say the bible isn't just some story someone made up? Or that the idea was skewed over they many many years. Can you honestly believe everything religion says?

The Catholic church is one big lie. They've paid so many people off to keep quiet about things. Be spiritual not religious
the ';Church'; has corrupted scripture to some extent. However the truth survives in Scripture, though you have to sometimes dig through the misunderstandings of the ';church';. It is true that churchianity teaches a ';false gospel';. It is not true that there would be no bible without the Catholic church. The Old testament is still intact, and without that church's working, some compilation would have taken place, though we can't be sure exactly what.
That's news to me. And here I was thinking God gave people the Bible.

Read 2 Timothy 3:15-16

It doesn't say anything about the Catholic church.
THey are correct. All religion is false.
False. The Catholics did not invent the Bible. Nieither did Christians. The Bible is God's word. The BIble was written through God's prophets...who were jews...not Catholics. Again, Christianity was the first true religion. All others came after.
There might still be a bible - but the Catholic Church did have a lot of effect on perpetuating the myths of christianity.

The people who say it teaches a false gospel are probably right, but then again, I don't believe in any of it, so I think they are all wrong.
The ';false gospel'; that the Catholic Church teaches is not based on the Bible, which is what makes it false and also is why Protestants do not follow it. I would LOVE to see you provide scripture references for the divinity of Mary, the virgin birth of Mary, the infallibity of the pope, priests not being allowed to marry, purgatory, working off your sins, praying for the dead, praying to Mary, praying to the dead saints, confessing to a priest, salvation ONLY through the Catholic Church, etc. You will not be able to because these are false teachings and a false gospel. Some Catholics ARE Christians, some are not (just like in every denomination)...but all walk a thin line of idolatry.
The catholics didn't give anyone the Bible. You're a propagandist.

The Bible is from God, not man. Catholicism didn't exist when the Bible was written and compiled. It is a pagan cult.

The genocidal Vatican murdered everyone found owning a Bible. And catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1:6-9).
The Catholic church is based on the Latin Heresies, which got passed on to the Protestant churches. Only the Orthodox churches are true Christianity.

The bible was compiled in Constantinople, not Rome.
WHo knows, the catholics are so good at obsfuscation and are so busy in the news with boy sex scandals that I never took notice of things like that.
