Is it right to tolerate people who teach false notions for profit?

You mean the way religion does?

No, I don't think it's tolerable at all.Is it right to tolerate people who teach false notions for profit?
Difficult to answer, tolerate could mean so many things. If I don't have to know them, I would prefer not to. If it is somebody I had to be a around, the answer is easy...I don't have the ability to tolerate them. I would always say something. I believe benevolence and wisdom are absolutely essential to a complete existence. To mislead people is deceitful and wrong, to do it for profit is morally reprehensible. Is it right to tolerate people who teach false notions for profit?
Not only is it right to tolerate people who teach false notions for profit but you are obligated to Love them. That does not mean that you have to agree with them, It does not mean that you will not become upset with their answers. Try to point out the falseness of their teaching if you can. But remember, as you can tell from some of the answers you received already, there are those who are only out to get a reaction from you.

Why would an atheist go to a Religion and Spirituality site if they were not there simply to try to get someone upset? Why have people given you provocative answers if not to stir you?
When is tolerance a bad thing? Doesn't the christian bible teach tolerance? And, who is to decide what is a false notion?

Why is it so hard for some people to accept anothers right to believe what they want? If you don't like what someone has to say, then don't listen. If they want money to teach you about their beliefs, don't give it to them.
People are vulnerable to such false teachings. We have a society that created a law against that. Man's search for the truth have led him to wander from one falsehood to another. When man will really know and understand, that is the time when those who took advantage of man's innocence will be dealt with.

Modern society however must be blamed for this.

There are people around who gives inspirational words for free and yet more are listening to those who they see making money for what comes out of their mouth or who presented themselves with credentials and records of academic achievements.

Oftentimes, the simplest mind is the truest that speaks for free.
No.

Would you support someone if they ran around supporting the crazy theory that Big Foot created everyone, descended to save us all, and killed himself to save everyone and had legends and stories told about him for centuries to come just because they wanted some extra money?

No. (Well, even if it wasn't for money, I still wouldn't support that, but that's beside the point.)
Sure it is...

To the guy making all the money.

My personal favorite is Mike Murdock. Frankly, the more I watch him, the harder it is for me to understand why anybody would support the cause of such blatant promissory nonsense.

The law can't really crack down on religion until it poses a threat to the peace, but we can.
Yes, you must tolerate them, but you are free to challange their message.

I believe the USA is in so much trouble now because the Christian Left has failed to chastise the Christian Right for their misinterpreations and false teachings.
In religion, it is good to be able to detect true notions from false notions. Good seed produced good fruit.

If people are asking ';why do bad things happens to good people?'; then the fruit is not good.
is it okay to be intolerate of people who may not do the most moral of choices. If one starts labeling everyone who shares a different point of view about the world untolerable then one is truly dense.
No! We should be totally intolerant of people who have different beliefs/opinions than ourselves. The Bible says so......
No, but it happens all the time. People are taught false notions by the media for profit constantly.
No.

Organized religions included.

[Looks at the Vatican]
I'd say there isn't anything wrong with it as long as their false notions are not harming anyone.
You mean like that lunatic Jack Chick? Most definatly not!!
definitely not.
For profit? No, it's not ok.
No.
Never. Balance the weights by teaching truth.
of course not.
that's when you give them a swift kick to the crotch
who s paying them
