Why do public schools teach all these false things about history?

Im not saying all the things they teach is false but half of the things they teach is false. because im 19 and in college and i see a difference in what they teach us in college about history than the stuff they taugh us in high school. I also notice that everybodies Culture Customs and History is not they same either as what i was taugh in high school now which one is teaching me the Truth, College or High School because im confused. Why do public schools teach all these false things about history?
A deliberate dumbing-down of our youth.http://www.deliberatedumbingdown.com/Why do public schools teach all these false things about history?
I think it has to do a lot with the author's perspective. In my AP World History class, my teacher gave us special articles for this exact reason. In order to teach a lesson, she wouldn't just ';teach it'; the traditional way. She would give us the same story, but written by different people with different backgrounds, from different perspectives, and have us debate it out and decide for ourselves which was true and which was false.

You'd be suprised how far one person's ';truth'; can be from the next person's. The high schools are given a selection of History Books to choose from, and they don't always choose the best one, or the one that will best educate the kids. They're much more worried about the wrong things (and my teacher told us this), such as--

- WIll these kids be able to read at this high (though in reality, it's a very dumbed down) level?

- Can they handle chapters this long? (They're not really that long--they can be, though)

In other words, they underestimate us and our ability to handle the truth.
Well, history is written by the winners. For instance, my high school textbook says the invasion of Iraq was a 'well-coordinated and executed' maneuver, after which the war 'ended' in success with the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, or some bull**** like that.

Also, the books say that the Vietnamese carried weapons in caskets during the Tet offensive. My Vietnamese friend, whose mother's family was actually in Vietnam during the war, says this is crap. It was a religious holiday, and to carry coffins around would be sacrilege, even more so if you had weapons in them.

Basically, it's propaganda. They want the kids to think that they live in the best country in the world, and that other people do horrible or bizarre things that we aren't supposed to understand, and thus demonize.
because all schools currivulum is made by the government so the school doesnt teach lies, the government just doesnt tell you the whole truth.

a good example is, students were only taught that the stolen generation was about aboriginal kids being stolen from their family, BUT they didnt mention the fact that white children were stolen away from the families as well. it is true because my next door neighbour is white and she was stolen when she was young

yes our govenrment is corrupt
when i was young my dad already tells me stories about some people in politics, well, as my bedtime stories.

i reckon, my grade two teacher was talking about Emilio Aguinaldo, the first Philippine president..then there blah blahs..then i raised my hand and said ';Aguinaldo assasinated Bonifacio because Bonifacio is most likely to win the presidential election'; and the teacher was like..no..no..thats not true..

oh well..i was right then.

i think she just denied coz she dont want to complicate the lesson.
Public schools depend on the money from the government. The government pretty much tells them what to teach and how to teach it. If you want to find the truth about history there's always books from the library or you could do a search on google or even wikipedia.
You gotta find the truth for yourself when you reach college. If I listened to what I learned in high school, one would think Chris Columbus was a great dude, and that Europe didn't get its asss spanked during the Crusades.
It would help to know what subjects were taught as false. Details please!
