Is Jesus teaching a ';false gospel of good works'; in Matt 25:31-46?

Sample: ';Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

';They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

';He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

';Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.';Is Jesus teaching a ';false gospel of good works'; in Matt 25:31-46?
An honest reading of this passage shows that works as well as faith are required for salvation. The specific works are acts of charity: Feeding the hungry, giving drinks to the thirsty, inviting the stranger in, clothing the needy, nursing the sick, and looking after those in prison.

Jesus taught the true gospel, not a false gospel. But those who claim that faith alone saves teach a false gospel. This is specifically rejected in James 2: 24: ';You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.';

Faith AND works--this is the original and authentic Gospel teaching. The Church, with its roots deep in apostolic traditions, has always held on to both elements in its teaching. The understandable desire to simplify Christianity into one or the other loses part of the truth and creates a broken and heretical doctrine.

CDFIs Jesus teaching a ';false gospel of good works'; in Matt 25:31-46?
The Baptists have a better idea.

They have formulated a procedure whereby you can kneel at the pastor's shoes, and do a special incantation, and get saved, no questions asked.

It's called spontaneous salvation, and if you don't like it maybe you prefer going to Hell.

Jesus himself has acknowledged that the Baptists have come up with a better idea than he had.

He told our neighbor, Mr. Gibby, not three years ago; and our neighbor explained it to my wife. And he has a website about that, I just don't have the link right now.
Not at all. You aren't saved by your works (2 Timothy 1:9), but you are known by your works (John 13:35).

James 2:14-26: My friends, what good is it for one of you to say that you have faith if your actions do not prove it? Can that faith save you? Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don't have enough to eat. What good is there in your saying to them, ';God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!';---if you don't give them the necessities of life? So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, then it is dead. But someone will say, ';One person has faith, another has actions.'; My answer is, ';Show me how anyone can have faith without actions. I will show you my faith by my actions.'; Do you believe that there is only one God? Good! The demons also believe---and tremble with fear. You fool! Do you want to be shown that faith without actions is useless? How was our ancestor Abraham put right with God? It was through his actions, when he offered his son Isaac on the altar. Can't you see? His faith and his actions worked together; his faith was made perfect through his actions. And the scripture came true that said, ';Abraham believed God, and because of his faith God accepted him as righteous.'; And so Abraham was called God's friend. You see, then, that it is by our actions that we are put right with God, and not by our faith alone. It was the same with the prostitute Rahab. She was put right with God through her actions, by welcoming the Israelite spies and helping them to escape by a different road. So then, as the body without the spirit is dead, also faith without actions is dead.
Jeszus was fine tuning his message... I would advise you to watch out every time that he says, ';I'm telling you the truth!'; It never worked all the time for him...

Matthew 16:28 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom';

It never happened!

Satan is still the ruler of this world!
People's actions reflect their heart. Jesus is talking about their hearts. NOT a gospel of good works.
He is saying MANY RELIGIONS People were really serving themselves with wrong motives and that religiosity gets you nowhere.

True faith in Christ saves
No!!!! Jesus is only saying as in another verse of scripture. ';Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you';. If you see a need, feel compelled to help, do nothing, that's a sin.
