Is mormon false teaching?

yes. They didnt even let black people become priest untl the IRS threatened to take away their tax free status. Is mormon false teaching?
I think it is. But I respect all beliefs . Ive learned to see it this way everybody no matter what race they are has grown up with a certain religious belief. Those who grow up in a family who believe in Ala, will probably be muslim, or Islamic. I grew up in a family of mostly Christians and Jehovah's Witness. They all believe in God. I just figure I cant judge them for what they believe.I just respect them and go on. In fact my boyfriend is Atheist. He used to believe in God, but when certain things happend in his life he came to believe that God wasnt real. I respect that in him. Take CareIs mormon false teaching?
If your question is according to Christian teachings is Mormonism a false teaching? Then the answer is ';YES';

The reason why is because Mormons do not believe in the Trinity, and they do not believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity.

Instead they believe that Jesus is a ';god'; of our planet. They think that when you die you can be married in heaven and people your own planet just like Jesus. They think that Jesus used to be a man just like us. But he died and peopled earth through his heavenly marriage. So, Mormons believe in a religion of ';God Making';. Let's all become Gods, and people our own planet, just like Jesus did. Surely, this is contrary to everything Christians believe about the divinity of Jesus.
I'm not sure that I would qualify their doctrines as false teaching but I would definitely state that they are not teaching the Christian faith as provided for from the Bible. I guess the short answer should be, is the tooth fairy real?

A quote from their founding Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr.: ';Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go.'; (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408, 409)

I have noted others who have answered this question who indicated the Book of Mormon tells of a history... After much research I would most definitely disagree. It is nothing other than a creation by the boasting uneducated man in the quote above who founded their faith. His other ';works'; those contained in the Pearl of Great Price, such as the Book of Moses and the Book of Abraham are also creations of his. Knowing the voracity of his other works can one deem his ';revelations'; to be any more real than the others? Does the common Mormon know that the Book of Abraham was translated from Egyptian papryi which contained text from the Book of Breathings (an abbreviated version of the Book of the Dead)? Does the common Mormon know that nothing has been found in the archaeological record which can support anything which has been documented in the Book of Mormon, unlike the multitude of findings which support Biblical writings? Has the common Mormon critically researched their religion and history of their church? I know I did and after doing such removed myself from their membership rolls, understanding that what they ';teach'; is not what Christ and God have left for us to learn from in the Bible.

False? If they are claiming it to be Christian, then yes, it is false. If they are claiming it to be just their teachings, then no, it is just their teachings. Is it something that an intelligent, thinking being could believe in? Absolutely not!
Mormon was a great prophet, historian, and leader that lived on the American continent about 400 AD. We don't have much of his teachings, although he compiled most of the writings that are now contained in the Book of Mormon (named after him)

Here is a quote from his son, Moroni, '; Condemn me not because of mine imperfection, neither my father, because of his imperfection, neither them who have written before him; but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been. '; (Mormon 9:31)

Moroni knew that he and his father, Mormon, were imperfect. So I assume that maybe some of Mormons teachings might have been false. But he was still a prophet of God and taught the gospel as best as he could, with the Lord's help. I'll be forever grateful to him and the work that he did.
Anything that takes away the sole sonship of Christ and his Deity is false teaching. Anything that says more is needed than what Christ gave, is false teaching. Revelations makes it clear that we are not to add to or take away from. So the mere fact that they added to is false teaching. Not to mention numerous other reasons that would fall into a false teaching status.
I have a question for most of the people who answered above me. Have you read any of the teachings of the LDS faith? I don't think so.

We are Christians, mostly the same as any other Christian church, we use the bible, the same bible as most churches. We may use another book, but if you read all the books and make a timeline of what happened and where, you will see it matches up almost perfectly.

For you people who say LDS worship a different god, why do we us the same Bible as you?

For those who say we polygamists, we abolished that a long time ago and any poligamists are NOT part of our church.

I might be LDS and believe we are true, but I'm still open to any other religion. If any of you had a religion and brought it up to me and it seemed true, I would look into it. I respect all relgions.
Mormonism is true satanic teaching and false Christianity.

Mormonism is a spiritistic, occult religion. It has an occult origin, promotes occult theology and philosophy, and continues to promote occult practices such as contact with the dead.

for many Mormons, ';true'; religion involves not only ministering to the spirits of the dead by proxy baptism, but also receiving guidance and instruction from spirits of the dead for spiritual growth.

The Mormon practice of contacting the dead is little different-in nature or consequence-than similar practices found in the world of the occult. Nor is there any doubt that the spirits who claim to be the dead are really lying spirits the Bible identifies as demons.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (NIV), God commands His people to avoid all forms of contact with the dead: ';Let no one be found among you...who practices divination or sorcery...engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord...';

In spite of this warning, the dead have always played a major role in the practice of Mormonism.
Anything that does not teach be saved by the Grace of God through Faith, is false teaching. There is only one way to Heaven. You must be Born again. (saved). It is by the Blood of Jesus. There is a Heaven, and there is a hell. Heaven is for the saved people. Hell is for the lost people. Good works does not take you to Heaven. Being saved does.
hey seem like ';good living'; people and they are genuine in their beliefs.

So what is wrong with Mormonism?

God loves Mormons but he hates Mormonism. Here are a few problems that I can see:-

1. They believe all Christian Churches today are apostate

The Mormons believe that the early Church quickly fell away from what Jesus really taught and became apostate until Joseph Smith received a revelation from God. So all other churches are seen as apostate. Yet Jesus promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against his Church. See Matthew 16:13-18.

We know from Church history that the events in the Book of Mormon are nowhere to be found. Christians acknowledge that there have been times of corruption and apostasy within the Church, but believe there has always been a remnant that held fast to the biblical essentials. The Mormons try to show themselves as a unified church, however this is far from the truth. There are many Mormon groups with each seeing themselves as the only true church and others as apostate. There is for example:-

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Utah)

The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Missouri)

The Church of Christ - Temple Lot (Missouri)

2. They don't believe in the Bible as God's Word

Mormons will tell you that the Bible has become corrupted and has to be understood by the Book of Mormon and prophetic revelation given to the Mormon leaders.

Yet the book of Mormon itself borrows heavily from the King James Version and contains many inaccuracies. You will struggle to find the doctrines and temple practices of the Mormon Church in the Bible or the Book of Mormon.

The Old Testament and New Testament writers all claim that their message was from God. See Peter 1:20-21 - ';No Scripture is of private interpretation; for prophecy never came by will of man, but men spoke as moved by the Holy Spirit.';

3. Joseph Smith is seen as God's Prophet

For the Mormon everything hinges on whether Joseph Smith was a true prophet or not. See Jeremiah 14:14 - If a man speaks as though he has a message from God when God really did not speak to him and the message is just his own idea, that man is a false prophet and deserves to be punished and rejected as a prophet.

Mormons will ask you to pray to God for faith to understand if he was a false prophet or not. However, it should not be left to feeling. Joseph Smith calls all other Christians apostates and creates a different Gospel from that in the Bible.

There is plenty of evidence of the ridiculous prophecies that Joseph Smith made which show that he was a false prophet. Yet Mormons have swept these under the carpet and accept that he was not infallible in all things.

4. It preaches another Gospel

In essence, Christ's death means nothing more to a Mormon than the gaining of the ability to be resurrected so that their works may be judged (3 Nephi 27:13-21; D%26amp;C 39:5-6). Beyond that it is all about works and some sins cannot be covered even by these!

In the Mormon gospel we see belief + repentance + baptism + laying on of hands (to receive the Holy Ghost) + temple work + mission work + church ministry + tithing 10% of your income + ceasing from sin + abstaining from the use of intoxicants and strong drinks and tobacco and caffeine + confessing Joseph Smith as Prophet + temple marriage + baptism for the dead + genealogy research and the list could go on and on and on. Only upon completion of all these things may Mormons attain to the third and highest level of heaven thus achieving the ultimate goal of the Mormon gospel - godhood.

The true Christian gospel can be summed up in this verse: ';For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.'; John 3:16

';Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose on the third day and because of this we can be saved (if we believe).'; 1 Corinthians 15:1-17.

';righteousness based on faith speaks thus...if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.'; Romans 10:6-9.

Similar passages are found in the following verses, and many other besides (Matt 10:32-33; Acts 16:31; Rom 4:20-25Eph 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:3-5; 1 John 5:11-13 etc.). Anything added to belief in Christ as the Son of God who died for our sins is blasphemy.
Nope. Here is a brief explanation of Mormon beliefs as stated by the founder and first prophet of our church, Joseph Smith.

1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

3 We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof. (See Priesthood Organization home page)

6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth. (See Gifts of the Spirit)

8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. (See Prayer, Fasting, and Revelation home page)

10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory. (See Second Coming of Jesus Christ home page)

11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. (See Politics: Political Teachings; Tolerance)

12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law. (See Teachings About Law home page)

13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
The doctrine of mormanism is quite wrong! They do not worship the same God as Christians! They have added to the Bible by producing the book of mormon and other publications! They worship a dead man as a prophet--Joseph Smith!
If it is, we should have much more of it. Mormons are wonderful, sharing people who invite you to join them, but never judge others. I think your question invites others to judge...
I guess you'll just have to ask God. He would know better than anyone else answering this question. The promise is that God will answer the prayers of any sincere seeker of truth. I recommend you read the Book of Mormon, and ask God if it is true. And don't rely on the falsehoods that are often circulated by those who don't like the Church; for whatever reason people like to spread lies about what Mormons actually believe.
Although I personally don't know any of them, I have read the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants.

As I understand, they are not different from any other religions. The truth is still away for all of them. But there are few who finds it being among the groups (religions).

Through any church or religions we are getting partly true and partly false doctrines. Latter day Saints are just one among those churches.
Yes. They added books to the bible (the book of Mormon.)
I will not be the judge of what another believes. Only God will do that. But I will say that I have seen nothing in the people of that faith that has been anything like all the propaganda I've heard from other Christians. A very close friend of mine who was Southern Baptist and a founder of a large church here converted to Mormonism. I don't agree with her reasons but they have helped her alot. But also they have the same problems all the other christian denominations have. As for me, I will only follow Christ Jesus and what He teaches me. But if He reveals that the Mormons are not that far off base, then I won't ague with Him. But I don't see that happening. We should all get along. We are all brothers and sisters on this planet. Let us heal the riffs.
Most of the people who have answered this question are really shallow thinkers. They are pointing out what they find as faults they find within the LDS faith. I would assume that most of them have done very little research of religion outside their own. The LDS faith teaches nothing that conflicts with common Christian beliefs. They are attacked for it constantly, but the truth is, it all fits, and most of it even makes sense. They believe just about everything every other common Christian church believes, but they have extra teachings. These do not conflict with the truth. Some beliefs, such as the trinity and priesthood may be uncommon between one christian faith and the LDS faith, but you'll find that every christian faith has differences with eachother.

Every religion is different, but that doesn't mean false teachings, exactly. True, it CAN, but it doesn't ALWAYS. I could teach that an orange is round. You can teach that an orange is orange in color. These don't conflict, and are both true.
Yes, it is reduculously false. There are so many good people in the LDS, RLDS, and Community of Christ. It is just a shame those people are lied to so much.

Go to apologeticsindex .org or com, for information. They are straight people.
Since the founder of Mormonism - Joseph Smith - and his loyal second in command - Brigham Young - were both raging polygamists, ';True Mormonism'; is still considered to be polygamy. This is in addition to Joseph Smiths extreme polytheism - belief in a multitude of gods and that Jesus Christ is just one god that Mormons can surpass. Just plain out there in bonkers field.
Of course it is.
I can only say that I absolutely second everything that baurmudatria said. Yes it is. anything you point out to them as a false statement by Joseph smith they will simply make up some other excuse and you end up in this horrible forever circle of arguements. No point. They also sing about Joseph Smith not Gods love or sacrifice. They are a false teaching but I think the saddest thing is that many of them mean well enough. just it is such a tight nit community that if you step outside of it you may loose your family and friends completely because the church tells them not to talk to you. that is control in the worst way.
Everything is false teaching! Not just them, all religion.
I'm not fond of it and I live in Mormonville UT
