Is there a punishment in the afterlife for believing in & teaching false hadiths to people?

...if you think they're true but turns out they're fabricated?Is there a punishment in the afterlife for believing in %26amp; teaching false hadiths to people?
12:111 In their stories is a lesson for the people of intelligence. It is not a hadith that was invented, but an authentication of what is already present, a detailing of all things, and a guidance and mercy to a people who acknowledge

12:111 لقد كان فى قصصهم عبرة لاولى الالبب ما كان حديثا يفترى ولكن تصديق الذى بين يديه وتفصيل كل شىء وهدى ورحمة لقوم يومنون

In this verse, God the Most Wise, rejects both the ';hadith'; and the basic excuse for accepting it as a source of Islam. No excuse is accepted from the followers of hadith in this world, nor on the Day of Judgment. The followers of fabricated hadiths claim that the Quran is not sufficiently detailed! They thus reject God's repeated assertion that the Quran is ';complete, perfect, and sufficiently detailed'; (6:19,38,114), and thereby justify the creation of 60 volumes of hadith, and a library full of contradictory teachings that are supposed to complete the Quran. By reflecting on 12:111 above, one can see God's answer to those fabricators and their followers. God informs us that we do not need fabricated hadith; that the Quran as a sufficiently detailed guide, is all we need. The Quran is the only ';ahsan al-hadith'; (best statement) to be followed (39:23). See 6:112-116; 11:1; 31:6; 33:38; 45:6; 52:34.

3:24 This is because they said, ';The hellfire will not touch us, except for a few days.'; They were thus deceived in their religion by their own fabrications.

[6:22] On the day when we summon them all, we will ask the idol worshipers, ';Where are the idols you set up?';

[6:23] Their disastrous response will be, ';By GOD our Lord, we never were idol worshipers.';

[6:24] Note how they lied to themselves, and how the idols they had invented have abandoned them.

[6:25] Some of them listen to you, but we place veils on their hearts to prevent them from understanding, and deafness in their ears. Thus, no matter what kind of proof they see, they cannot believe. Thus, when they come to argue with you, the disbelievers say, ';These are tales from the past.';

[6:26] They repel others from this (Quran), as they themselves stay away from it, and thus, they only destroy themselves without perceiving.

[6:27] If only you could see them when they face the hellfire! They would say then, ';Woe to us. Oh, we wish we could go back, and never reject our Lord's revelations, and join the believers.';

@ Dear Noor, would you dare compare hadith for shahadah with 3:18,and change your shahadah according to Glorious Quran ?

would you be certain that hadith regarding 50 salat,is totaly wrong,when Glorious Quran says all religious duties were given to Prophet Ibraheem ?

would you change your belief that dogs are NOT najis according to Glorious Quran !

what about Rajam ? these just few examples.Is there a punishment in the afterlife for believing in %26amp; teaching false hadiths to people?
Yes there is. Accusatory condemnation of others in proclaiming one singular deity to be true to the exclusion of named Gods of other religions is a sin. Atheist teaching their minions there is peace in death post tormenting God in life are horrendously wrong and sinful. Acts committed for any other reason than unity peace and by the application of love are sinful. Two facedness, making praise singing noises about one, to plot their downfall unobserved is a great sin. Normal stable people know this as sense. Religious zealots and atheist are extreme and unbalanced and do not. Verily it is sinful for nay to keep company with such evil doers and wrongful people, for they will ultimately gain by the presence of good, whilst good is tainted and compromised by the predication of the sinful and debased.
Salam for you my dear friend. We should learn well whether a certain hadith is false or sahih or valid.We should compare it with the related verses in the Qur'an as our own judgement It is better if we learn and understand the sahih hadiths collected and evaluated by the welknown writers such as Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim.After we understand it we should practise it in our daily life.If before we know the right hadith we did a false one,we should ask for Allah's forgiveness

as soon as possible after we realized that it was false hadith..Insya allah we will be forgiven by Allah because Allah is merciful and forgiveful.False hadith is the same with bid'ah and if we did it we will have great sin. Bid'ah is the new way of ibadah which is not done by Muhammad pbuh and his sahabahs in his era.If during our life we did not ask for Allah's forgiveness,we will be punished in the afterlife for believing and practising false hadith including teching it to the people.
There is one mutwater ( very authentic ) hadith which says '; whoever lied in something I said will go to hell ';

If the person lied with good intention to encourage people to do certain worshiping or to scare people from doing something , it will be a sin and he will be punished .

If he narrated the hadith mistakenly thinking the prophet said it then I believe no punishment will be for him .

Bukhari and others did great effort with good intention but that doesn't make them right or make the method on which they based the authenticity of the hadiths is correct , the great effort they did doesn't make their books the perfect and the most reliable source for sharia , they're fallible humans after all , no doubt they did mistakes .

I believe Allah will reward them for their good intention despite the damage they have done to Islam !
Well Allah judges us based on our intention if the intention was pure and the person did their best to make sure their hadith were good they would be ok, but if they really checked they should find out the hadith is bad before they die. Allah can forgive ignorance. If you aren't sure then you could be punished, you would have to believe totally that the hadiths were true and good to get the ignorance pass
I am no scholar but I write below what I know. Better clear up serious matters from those who carry knowledge.

Well, there is a hadith that warns those who associate lies and fabricated hadith upon the Prophet (pbuh), the warning says that '';Whoever attributes to me something that I did not say, let him reserve his seat in the Hellfire.';'. So the warning and punishment is very clear. In the times of Imam Bukhari (r.a.) when he was collecting Hadith, he had to strive hard in order to verify their authenticity. It was a time when Hadith were cooked up for self benefits. Like someone in the vegetable market would say 'The Prophet (s.a.w) said 'Those who eat this kind of vegetable gets cure from all diseases or enters paradise and so on' which were clear lies.

So we must be careful. But, seriousness increase when someone says a hadith to rule over something. There is an incident happened at times of Rasulullah (s.a.w) that some of companions were on a journey as come in Hadith [ Jâbir () said: “We set out on a journey, and one of us was wounded by a stone on his head. [When he slept,] he had a wet dream, and so he asked his companions, ‘Do you see any concession for me to perform tayammum?’ They replied: ‘We do not see any concession since you are able to use water.’ Upon that, he took bath and consequently died. When we came back to Allâh’s Messenger (), he was informed of what took place. He said: ‘They killed him! May Allâh kill them! Why didn’t they ask if they didn’t know? Indeed the only cure for ignorance is to ask. It would have been enough for him to perform tayammum, or bandage his wound, wipe over the bandage and bathe the rest of his body.” (Abu Dâwud)..... See how serious is the situation when we rule ourselves without knowledge. We bear the sin of killing someone or harming someone and we may be unaware of that.

But when it comes to virtues, the scholars agree that weaker hadith can be quoted. Imam Bukhari (r.a) has quoted many Hadith which are weaker according to scholars in his book 'Adabul Muafarrad' Likewise we can find many weak hadith in the numerous Hadith books. If they were to be omited like some of scholars of today says 'why were those great Imams and scholars tranfer it to the next generation. So it is also sin to reject Hadith as well....For eg:- when we say 'if you pray in Jama'ah in the mosque we get such and such reward' There is no harm happening to the person if he were pushed to go to the mosque listening to that virtue'. But when ruling, things has to be very clear and conscious... we might kill or harm someone because of our ignorance.

This is what I know about....
Yes a big example would be the ones that praise Yazid and Muawiya, these scholars and their followers to hell first class ticket, no questions asked, they will scream, but, but, but the angels will say, no buts tonight, burn in hell ya shyaaateen.

Edit: and then they will be like plz can we have a glass of water, and we will be like no man you wanna get us in trouble, but try the tree of Zaqoom, we heard it tastes quite nice after thousand years without food and water, then they will go there and will see it has fruits that resemble shytan all full of puss, it will go down in their stomach as if a burning inferno.
I think the answer lies in the REASON for what we have been put to this test.

As u r already aware that ALL the Abrahamic religions and their scriptures have the common thing that ALL the mankind was sent down from heaven for a test, because of disobedience of Adam i.e. eating from the forbidden tree.

Now eating an edible thing itself is NOT a sin, but eating a forbidden thing is a sin, as it is ';Disobedience';.

The Quran has explained certain things in much more detail than the OT (Old Testament). And one of the points is this one:

- The Question that I had for a very very long time, was that ';How'; come a Most Merciful God would punish the WHOLE mankind for the sin of JUST two persons i.e. Adam %26amp; Eve.

Frankly, I just could not get a satisfactory answer to that for a very long time. My question was that ';Why'; and also why not the angels hae been put to test. Some answered that the angels r inferior to us as they cannot think or decide i.e. are like Robots. This was contradictory to what the Quran was indicating i.e. The angels questioned God and also expressed a conclusion, when God said that he is going to appoint a King on Earth.

Robots or entities which are void of thinking mechanism, cannot question !!!. However, the Islamic scholars insist/ed that they cannot think on their own. Hence this is not a satisfactory explanation.

This is where RK has digged out a great explanation. I think you should read his explanation. And that would hopefully explain a lot of things:

Just elaborating on my above answer. After examining the above mentioned links, one should carefully take into account the following:

1- Definition of ';Ibada';. This word is translated by the translators in English to ';Worship';. This is NOT a faithful translation. The more close fit to the translation is ';being Slave to';. So when God says that ';Ibada One God';. That means being slave to ONE and the ONLY God.

2- Now also read the definition of ';worshipping One God';. It is briefly given in 25:63 to end of chapter 25:77.

3- After this note the 7 places where there are accounts of the conversation / communication between God and Satan at the time of creation of Adam. They are:

2:34, 7:11, 15:31, 17:61, 18:50, 20:116, 38:74

When one notes all these accounts, AND also the INSTRUCTIONS of Allah to Adam (when he fell from heaven). One would note the main criteria.

1- Following God's message is obedience to God.

2- Following ANYTHING besides it, would be disobedience to God.

Now the Satan will come from all sides. He will entice people to be hard core athiests and agnostics i..e firm disbelievers. However, those who will NOT be like that, he will sugar coat his pill of deviation to apparently look like good. But underneath it will still be deviation. It may not be apparent at first shot, but it will be.

Therefore CONCLUSIVELY, following any other source besides the message of God, would amount to disbelief ultimately. Plus it is like insult to God. He is the one who deserves all allegiance, not anyone else.
the prophet peace be upon him said :

من كذّب علي متعمد فليتبوأ مقعده في النار

One who attributes a lie to me deliberately should find his abode in Hell(Bukhari)

The narrators of Hadeeth are the most honourable and respectable Muslims, as they are keepers and preservers of Sunnah. Most of them are the companions of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) who witnessed the acts and learnt the sayings of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). Others are the successors of the companions. Who were blessed by Allaah and they are highly respected by all Muslims. They are shinning stars of Islam.

Their hearts were free from worldly desires. Reading their biographies will increase love and devotion towards them and develop more interest to be faithful and obedient in the heart of the Muslim who reads their biography.

Allaah Almighty Says (which means): ';Verily, We have sent down the Reminder, and surely, We will guard it (from corruption).'; [Quran; 15:9] The above promise made by Allaah is obviously fulfilled in the undisputed purity of the Quranic text throughout the fourteen centuries since its revelation.

However, what is often forgotten by many Muslims is that the above divine promise also includes, by necessity, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) for it is the practical example of the implementation of the Quranic guidance, the Wisdom taught to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) along with the Scripture, and neither the Quran nor the Sunnah can be understood correctly without recourse to the other.

Allaah preserved the Sunnah by enabling the Companions may Allaah be pleased with them and their followers may Allaah have mercy upon them to memorize, write down and pass on the statements of the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and the descriptions of his way, as well as to continue the blessings of practicing the Sunnah. Later, as the purity of the knowledge of the Sunnah became threatened, Allaah caused the Muslim nation to produce outstanding individuals of incredible memory-skills and analytical expertise, who journeyed tirelessly to collect hundreds of thousands of narrations and distinguish the true words of precious wisdom of their Messenger sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) from those corrupted by weak memories, from forgeries by unscrupulous liars, and from the statements of the enormous number of scholars, the Companions and those who followed their way, who had taught in various centers of learning and helped to transmit the legacy of Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) - all of this achieved through precise attention to the words narrated and detailed familiarity with the biographies of the thousands of reporters of Hadeeth. Action being the best way to preserve teachings, the scholars of Islam also revived the practice of the blessed authentic Sunnah.

The methodology of the expert scholars of Hadeeth in assessing narrations and sorting out the genuine from the mistaken, fabricated etc., forms the subject-matter of a wealth of material left to us by the scholars of Hadeeth (traditionists).
