Where do Christians come up with a false teaching that God loves the sinner and not the sin? not scriptural?

When I read in my bible that God flooded the world in Noah's days he destroyed the sin and the sinner, or when he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah he destroyed the sin and the sinner. I read in the bible that when God destroys sin he got rid of the sinner who is making the sin as well. There would be no sin in the world if we didn't have any sinners. The bible says ';Whosever commith sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning: For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil.'; When you destroy the works of the devil there is no more sin. When a person gives up his sin and converts to the bible he is no more a sinner but a righteous person. Romans 6:18. How come people find this hard to understand? A sinner will always walk contrary to God's word and is faithful to the devil and not to Christ.Where do Christians come up with a false teaching that God loves the sinner and not the sin? not scriptural?
Which comes first? Romans 6:18, or Romans 5:8? ';God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.';

How can anyone read the Bible and miss God's love for sinners? That is why Christ died on the cross! If God hated sinners, Jesus would have come back a long time ago. ';The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, NOT WANTING ANYONE TO PERISH, but EVERYONE TO COME TO REPENTANCE.

In the book of Jonah, Jonah hated the Ninevites. God however, did not. He loved them, and wanted them to repent so that he wouldn't have to destroy them.

God can love the person and still destroy them for their sin. Judgment does NOT equal a lack of love.

If God does not love the sinner, we are ALL in trouble, for then there can be no forgiveness. God sent His Son because of love. If God hates sinners, then how can anyone who loves receive Christ, if Christ died because of God's love?Where do Christians come up with a false teaching that God loves the sinner and not the sin? not scriptural?
The bible is not meant to be taken literally.

It is a good story book that all.

Also the bible say smany many things, and yet people choose what parts are real and what parts are not. Lev: is not yet Gen: is but yet the whole bible is HMMM...

Maybe the bible is just that, a story book.

There are no facts to it and people will interpret it to fit their own ideaology
';And he said to him,'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.';

John 15.31 (The parable of the Prodigal Son)

You are right, in one aspect. We, as Christians should not continue to sin, but NO ONE is perfect, except for the Father and the Son, the ONLY sinless Man. We all exhibit ';prodigal'; acts at some time or another, and I'm sure that God knows that. Why else would He send Jesus to atone for all of our sins? He knows that we cannot fulfill the Law. All we can do is come back to the Lord and ask forgiveness.

';Love the bigot, hate the bigotry';
The bible is very confusing if you read out of context and if you don't see the big picture. The old testament is like a big metaphor leading up to the works of the cross.

Do you think Jesus destroyed the works of the devil or not? Is He weak and pityful? The works of the devil (flesh) is sin consciousness. As long as you think you are a sinner you will continue to try to gain favor with God and thus stay far from realizing that you are one with God.

The devil did not tempt Jesus with sex, drugs and rock and roll. He tempted him with questioning who He was. Your flesh and the law will tell you that you are not worthy. Your spirit knows that you are righteous and perfect.

Jesus fulfilled the law. No law means no sin in God's eyes. He found all unrighteous(613 laws) so He could have mercy on all. God has kept his promise to us. He does not need our promises or good deeds.
To answer your first question: Jesus said He came not to the righteous, but for sinners.

In the Old Testament, yes, God destroyed both, but in a relatively limited way. Since there were still other people with free will who chose to sin, sin still existed.

But you've contradicted yourself. ';A sinner will always walk contrary to God's word....'; Always? ';When a person gives up his sin and converts ... he is no more a sinner....'; That's it - because we have free will, we can choose to free ourselves from sin by accepting God's will.

And I'm not sure that every sinner is faithful to the devil and not to Christ. Even the Gentiles of old were judged by the Law and the implication is that they weren't necessarily in league with Satan. One may be a sinner, but unless that person has been convicted of his sins and deliberately chooses to ignore the warning to repent, he may not even know or understand that the devil has any influence in his life.
A Christian FALLS into sin. The non-Christian dives into sin.

First off, we have to realize that God didn't destroy Sodom and Gommorah for it's rampant homosexuality. God obliterated them for rampant idolatry.

Remember: ';I am God. I am the only God, and I am a Jealous God so don't worship anything but me.';

Second of all, the general opinion is that the destruction of the world was a horrible rage gone wrong. God destroyed the world, leaving only Noah and his family. Then Noah got off the boat, got wasted, and God said, ';Ok Noah. I'm sorry for destroying your world. I won't do that again.'; Hence the Rainbow as the symbol of his promise not to wipe us all off the face of the earth.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe God is letting us run wild so we kill ourselves off as proof to the Angels that we need to be a theocratic world. And I always liked that idea when applied in these terms.

Third of all, you're ignoring the fact that the Old Testament (or the Tanakh) states very clearly that God creates evil in this world. Not satan. God created Satan as well, assuming there IS a satan. And assuming that Satan is real, and a creation of God, would it not be a lesser leap in logic to assume God created him to be evil?

Fourth of all, you are making another great leap in judgement to assume that God needed Jesus Christ to save the human souls. Personally, I think humans needed Christ, despite the fact that God said in the Torah that ';All may come to me who are pure/righteous in heart.'; God knows what's in our hearts without Jesus. It was humans who needed a bridge to God that had a human face to it.

And finally, you are assuming that all Christians are no longer sinners. My Methodist preacher mother-in-law is constantly telling me that everyone is a sinner, regardless of their relationship with Jesus. You are human, therefore you sin and therefore we are all sinners. Though Christ will absolve your sins upon accepting him into your heart, your status as a sinner has not changed. Jesus just showed you a mirror where you could see that you were a sinner and could change your ways, but the default opinion is that you are human and therefore a sinner.

I want to add a comment to the poster below who says nobody but God and jesus are without sin.... Explain Job 1:1. Job was ';WITHOUT SIN and BLAMELESS'; as well.

And speaking of ';without sin and blameless, Why did Jesus say in Matthew 19:17 that Only God is without sin, when we know Job was without sin, and that - according to Luke 18:19, Mat 19:16, and various other sources - Jesus was seperate from God?
Its at times like this where we can benefit from St. Paul's question; ';Who will bring any charge against God's elect?'; (Romans 8:33) No one. No one can bring a valid charge against a child of God thanks to the blood of Christ. In baptism He cleansed us from our sin. Now he wants to sprinkle our hearts so that we are freed from a guilty conscience. (Hebrews 9:14)

It's true. Anyone who sincerely confesses their sin is completely forgiven-no matter how bad the sin or how many times we fall prey to it. Once we repent, the case is dismissed and God doesn't think about it anymore. All who ask forgiveness for their sins are cleansed and are free from guilt by the blood of Jesus. This of course drives the Devil crazy and he tries to get you to sin again and again hence the reason for our need to engage in constant prayer as a defense and to seek forgiveness regularly from the Lord to maintain our relationship with our Father.

Peace be with you.
Remember when Jesus came to the defense of the adultress who was about to be stoned to death, and said - let he who is without sin cast the first stone - no one was able to cast that stone because they knew in their hearts that they have sinned. Lets not forget that God's justice is equal to his mercy, and what would God's role be if there were no sinners? A sinner is not faithful to the devil but the devil is faithful to the sinner, it is the sinners distance to God that makes him more nearer to him. That the possibility to be righteous is ever more so present in those who are not.
Romans 3:10 states that there is no righteous man, not even one! That means you, me and everybody else, all of us are sinners. Now if we read John 3:16, you will find there that God so loved the ';world';, the world here denotes us, thus referring to the ';sinners'; and the ';unrighteous'; quoted in Romans. God loves the sinner... scriptural indeed.
Love the sinner, hate the sin. We all make mistakes. That is why we are here. To make mistakes, and learn from them. The trick is to not keep making the same mistake over and over again. Everyone is cabable of change, and we sometimes needs help to make that change. 'This great new commandment I give unto you....to love one another, as I have loved you....' So said Christ. We are all sinners to one degree or another. Only Christ was perfect.
