There are some excellent teachings in the bible. But also some very bad information as well. People use the bible to fit whatever agenda they have-- good or bad. The bible is not a science book and is anti-science. The bible is a collection of myths and superstitions. People whom believe the bible to be absolutely true are deluded, ignorant and deny the obvious.
With respect, this is not a contradiction. Abraham and the nation of israel were allowed to have many wives (perhaps to ensure their survival as a nation to allow the promised messiah to come from their linage - the bible doesn't say) But it does say in the Greek scriptures, that the old covenant is dissolved and only 1 wife is allowed.

Abraham had three wives at the most and it is believed the ';third wife'; may actually be another name for Hagar. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that it is wrong to have more than one wife. You need to study it more closely before you start looking for contradictions.
I believe the current Bible does not reflect the original teachings of Jesus. So many books have been excluded included those about Jesus, Mary, Thomas being members of the Essenes. And so many books have been added. The translations werent accurate. The original Aramaic is very difficult to translate owing to lack of spaces between words, punctuation marks, capital letters, etc. The King James Version was arrived at after 6 translations to correct previous errors and it took 150 years to arrive at the final version. And wasnt King James the son of Bloody Mary who killed her husbands? The Bible itself has a very bloody history - people suspected of translating without permission, people who question the Constantine version, they were killed, tortured or rendered heretic. So many questions. So as for me, I would rather believe in common sense, respect the beliefs of others if I can, and avoid inter-religious fighting.

It was written in a language rarely if ever spoken anymore so the interpretations are quite skewed.
It was written years and years after Jesus died, mostly by people who did not know him. The contradicions you find so hilarious can be interpreted by others to say what ever they want them to say.
And it still has some value, some great stories, yet taken way out of context.

My opinion is that the bible (what is called the bible, created 300 years after Jesus' death by Ambrose, a controversial bishop of Milan) has some spiritual insight, and indeed is useful if it's not: read as a text book, or viewed as perfect.

I would ask: why would anyone think it's true? Even the bible itself does not assert its own veracity (the ';God-breathed'; verse in 2 Timothy is quite weak). It's just an old text, written and edited by many people---what is it that could possibly make it true?
